I like how Garyvee shares with all of us about how “Ideas are Shit without execution” The following recommendations all come with an ACTION step to take and this might be something you have already tried.. or not.. in any case, it is sometimes nice to try out different combination that works. Here are some that have helped me:
1. Write A Post!
Yes, write a post (audience, topic, content, write) like how i am doing now, as i write, i am thinking what I will be writing next as pointer #2 of this #10 pointer post. like this about your predicament and helpful readers will be sending in their two cents on how you can find new ideas.
2. Visit New Places / Travel
I like the freedom of travel these days. With the click of a button and of course some spare cash. You are on your journey to somewhere new (3o places to travel in 2017). Meet new people or reconnect with old pals and you may be able to sought out inspiration from places you never thought would help you get new ideas.
3. Have a Conversation With Someone Opinionated
Social interactions can go a long way in triggering emotions or a new way of looking at things, particularly coming from someone else who has no filter to their own thoughts. It’s a good thing that everyone has different views over the same matter. You can adopt those views in your writing or your sketches.
Now let’s say what MR Google Says on this topic.
It is interesting when you type in GOOGLE : Ways to Get New Creative ideas. This is what pops up –
4. Choose A Word From The Dictionary
Look for novel connections between the word and the problem. Well this is interesting, in order to rethink, you may need to re order the pattern flow of answering a problem. I will try this to see if it works. As of June 2017, there are some new words added like – arribada, channelopathy, doenjang (I do not know what they mean)
5. Picking Up A Picture
Yes, this works very well. pictures capture emotions, identifies with the time it was taken to the surroundings and circumstance it was shot. An old picture may open up new ways to reaccess old ways things were done. Looking at a picture can give one a different perspective at a different time season of their life.
6. Buy Something For Yourself
Shopping (Taobao) has helped me save a lot of $. My partner has helped me to scout and source for new products at a fraction of the price. The feeling of owning new clothes or new gadgets has a profound effect on how you think. However, it’s essential to buy what you want to, so that the feeling of being rewarded is there and can further motivate you.
7. Revisit Nature
Parks are not just the places to have an evening stroll. It also keeps you engaged with natural beauty. Go fish, jog around in the park or take somebody to go camping with you. Removing yourself from the hustle and bustle of the city life can give your senses a rest from being bombarded with white noise all the time.
8. Play A Sport
Being outdoors, playing a group sport with friends can get the blood pumping and help you feel a sense of belonging. Nothing motivates the brain better than a good run or even better, winning a game! Getting a new form of coordination that can maximise movement control on daily activities to improve personal well-being.
9. Make New Friends
Met somebody new in the business? (I have tried Meetup and it works especially when you want to streamline the type of activity in your city) Have a drink or a meal with them. New interactions make your brain healthy, and pushes you to try to impress them. And this works in the opposite direction too. It not only makes you excited, you are ready to learn more too.
10. Follow Current News
Not one for socializing online? Then, just catch the news. It doesn’t matter what means you prefer to get the current news happening in your area. Offline and even online news magazines should be your partner in drier times. Done with local news? Go international.
Hope this helps you to rethink your idea flow and also to establish new ways in journeying through your daily activities.
